Earlier this month, I attended the Wedding Dreams Bridal Show & Bella Women’s Show, which were put on by Wedding Dreams Magazine and Bella Magazine. I got introduced to these magazines in September when I began working part-time as their social media specialist.
The shows were the masterpiece of Diana Rose, the publisher of both magazines. A brilliant idea, Diana decided to offer two shows under one roof – a bridal show and a women’s show. The shows took a lot of planning, but the hard work paid off the weekend of November 9th and 10th. I volunteered on the 9th and it was amazing to see just how much work goes on behind the scenes at these kinds of shows. Every detail meticulously planned and executed, the Ottawa Convention Centre was done up beautifully with vendors and decor.
Being a bride myself, I spent most of my time at Wedding Dreams Show, handing out swag bags to fellow brides and gushing about wedding details. It was definitely different to be the one working the show, rather than attending, but of course I took some time to scope out the vendors and snap some pictures of the event.
A lot of thought went into ways to make this show stand out from the typical wedding or women’s show. Attention to detail was huge and a lot of time was spent ensuring the show looked beautiful. Everyone entered through a large, lighted arch and could spend time posing at a free photo booth before entering either of the large showrooms.
Instead of the typical fashion show, both shows offered an interactive approach. Models walked around the shows so guests could see outfits up close. Strategically placed pedestals allowed models to stop and pose for photos from the crowd.
One of the vendors that really caught my eye at the Wedding Dreams Show was RSVP Events and their Wedding in a Box concept. I was first drawn in by the gorgeous Tiffany blue decor, the cupcakes and little swag bags. Once I learned more about Wedding in a Box, I was sold. Too bad I had done everything the hard way and planned my wedding on my own before hearing of this ingenious concept! For a set price of $12,500, the package price includes everything from venue, food, wedding planning, DJ & entertainment, limousine, hair & make up, photography, décor, bouquets/boutonnières to three-tier cake or cupcakes. There is room to choose different vendors as well and a la carte items can be added to the packages.
Over at the women’s show side of the event, the Bella Women’s Show offered tons of great vendors selling makeup, lingerie, clothing, jewelry, home decor and pretty much everything a woman can dream of!
