It is no secret that I have been in love with Nordstrom Ottawa even before it opened and since the store been open I will find any excuse to be there. I can most often be found hovering around the Rebecca Minkoffs or desperately trying to find a pair of Kate Spade summer flats in my size.
I have to admit that I hadn’t ventured into the beauty department since the stores opening, so when I was inviting to get a sneak peak at their first Beauty Trend Event, I couldn’t get there fast enough. The idea of trying out different brands that I would not normally get a chance to try was so exciting to me.
Just like any other trip to Nordstrom, this one did not disappoint. I was treated like a VIP the entire time, with friendly staff introducing themselves to me and ensuring I was having the best experience possible.
I started my evening with a mini-facial with La Prairie expert Marie-France Lorrain. Marie-France decided to use the Cellular Swiss Ice Crystals Line on me and began with the Cellular Cleansing Water to remove my makeup. To tone, Marie-France applied the Cellular Oil Control Tonic and then applied the Cellular Swiss Ice Crystal Cream to hydrate my skin. For a mini eye lift, I was able to try the Essence of Skin Caviar , which left my eyes rested and de-puffed. I ended the treatment by sampling the Anti-Aging Eye and Left Perfection a Porter, which would make the perfect travel companion and even comes in a convenient travel pouch.
Armed with a glowing complexion, I was put into the, more than capable hands, of Angela Ellacott, a Bobbi Brown educator. Angela was amazing and completely embodied Bobbi’s vision of empowering women to learn how to apply their own makeup. Angela worked magic on my under eye circles with Bobbi Brown’s Corrector/Concealer in Light Bisque and Sand. For foundation, Angela decided to go with the iconic Skin Foundation Stick in 3.25 Cool Beige and completed my look with the Illuminating Bronzer in Antiqua. I loved how Angela took the time to teach me how to do each step, rather than just applying my makeup and gave me a quick lesson on why she did each step. Her technique to apply bronzer to the neck area to balance my redness was a total game changer for me.
Now that I had the perfect complexion, it was time to add colour. I was handed to Cara Wood, a Dior makeup artist who played with some of the fun shades from the limited edition Tie Dye collection. Cara mixed bronze, gold and turquoise on my eyelid using the Tie Dye 5 Couleurs Couture Palette and added more fun with the Tie Dye Kohl pencil in Pearly Turquoise. Cara tied the whole look together with the Dior Addict Lipstick in Fuchsia Utopia and Tie Dye Blush in Pink Sunrise.
My final stop for the day was at the Jo Malone counter where Corey helped me find my signature scent. What I love about Jo Malone is the ability to mix and match various scents to create something that is all your own. After Corey and I decided on two scents, I sat down and received the most relaxing hand and arm massage. Corey worked in Pomegranate Noir cream into my skin, which she topped with Amber & Lavender spray to create my very own Just a Trace scent.
Not only was I able to leave the Nordstrom feeling refreshed, smelling good and looking a heck of a lot better than when I walked in, I left with tons of beauty goodies to sample at home.
